Sun observation

An excursion dedicated to solar observation

The solar observation workshop

Enjoy and learn through our workshop dedicated to sun observation and imaging. At Astro-Sun, we offer an excursion from Maspalomas and other tourist places in Gran Canaria. We will take you to a suitable place in the mountains of the west of Gran Canaria, where our professional staff will teach you the techniques of sun observation. You will learn how to take pictures of our star with the details of its surface. We will mount a powerful telescope on a special mount that we have made, and we will use specific, state-of-the-art filters. Something unique to do in Gran Canaria.

We will pick you up from YOUR HOTEL in the south of Gran Canaria, and take you to the top of Vinagreras mountain, where we have our private access observation point.

At Astro-Sun, we observe the Sun with a telescope of unusual dimensions for solar observation. See more information about our equipment at the following link: Equipment used in Astro-Sun

My name is Gauthier, with the help of Carmelo, Sebastian and Toni I run Astro-Sun. Taking quality images of our star is not easy and we enjoy the challenge. We will explain you in detail how to do it, adapting to your previous knowledge if you have any.

Mogan is one of the municipalities with the most hours of sunshine per year in Europe. When the trade winds blow, Mogan clears up. We take advantage of the many hours of sunshine to organise our workshops. The islands are sometimes affected by an episode of dusty atmosphere from the Sahara desert. These episodes are usually accompanied by a particularly stable atmosphere, which allows us to take high quality photographs of the details of our star.
